San Francisco
The world-famous Castro Theatre once again will be the stately setting for the majority of Festival screenings. With the grandeur of its elegant chandelier and grand screen, and with its Mighty Wurlitzer sending organ chords thrumming all the way to the back of the balcony, the Castro Theatre is an ideal venue for many of Frameline30’s bigger-than-life feature films.

Over in the Mission District, the thriving neighborhood’s funky flair and international flavors will imbue screenings at the Roxie Film Center and Victoria Theatre (replete with comfy new seats!) with edgy excitement.

In addition, this year we’re pleased to present four evenings of screenings at the CinéArts @ Empire, in the heart of the welcoming West Portal neighborhood and an easy six-minute MUNI ride from the Castro Street station. MUNI trains leave the Castro and West Portal stations every 9 to 15 minutes from 6:00 pm through midnight.

Oakland

For the third consecutive year we’re back at the spirited Parkway Theatre for four evenings. Nowhere else in the Bay Area can you enjoy a fine film while cozying up to your moviegoing buddy (or two) in the theatre’s love-seat sofas and enjoying edibles ordered from the Parkway’s extensive café menu featuring pizza, sandwiches and beer. Due to alcohol service, no one under 21 will be admitted to Parkway screenings. That is, unless you are under 12 months old; Frameline30 and the Parkway will host a special “Baby Brigade” screening of Unveiled on Monday, June 19, for parents, friends and infants under 12 months. (Please, no babes in arms for other screenings.)
