The San Francisco International Lesbian & Gay Film Festival has long been the proving ground for up-and-coming filmmakersand the place to see the best new films first.
Over the years, Festival audiences and juries have announced these new talents to the world by bestowing a variety of awards on first features such as THE CHILD I NEVER WAS, GUARDIAN OF THE FRONTIER, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, COSTA BRAVA, TOGETHER ALONE, and ORANGES ARE NOT THE ONLY FRUIT. Generously funded by Levi Strauss & Co., this $10,000 juried award is presented to the best first narrative feature premiering at the 28th San Francisco International Lesbian & Gay Film Festival.
