Opening Night Film

Die Mommie Die
7:30 pm, Castro Theatre, 429 Castro Street (near Market)
Join Frameline to kick off 18 days of the best new queer cinema with Sundance favorite DIE MOMMIE DIE, Charles Busch’s dazzlingly dizzy pastiche of 1960s camp classics-from WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE? to VALLEY OF THE DOLLS and more. Busch purrs and growls his way through the movie as bitter fading chanteuse Angela Arden, whose family is out for murderous revenge after daddy turns up dead from a poisoned suppository. Natasha Lyonne oozes spite as Edith, Angela’s “daddy's girl” of a daughter; Stark Sands oozes budding sex appeal as Lance, her hot son who just got kicked out of college; and the cute-as-ever Jason Priestley just oozes all over the screen as Tony Parker, a well-hung gigolo with an agenda. Meanwhile, Frances Conroy, the funereal mom on “Six Feet Under,” spouts scripture as the family’s long-suffering maid, Bootsie.
